Solution

The correct option is C III, I, IV
The guard cells are specialized cells present in epidermis of leaves. The two guard cells enclose a pore in between them, known as stomatal pore. The guard cells control the opening and closing of the stomatal pore. The stomatal pore opens when guard cells are turgid and closes when guard cells become flaccid.

As the concentration of potassium ions increases inside the guard cells, the osmotic potential decreases. Due to this, the guard cells absorb water from neighbouring subsidiary cells and become turgid. This causes the outer walls of guard cells to bulge and force the inner walls into a crescent shape. This results in the opening of stomata.
