In 1925, ‘Kakori Loot Case’ rocked the British administration. Kakori is a village near Lucknow. It was an armed robbery aimed at a train carrying money collected from different railway stations.

In February 1922, in the village of Chauri Chaura of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, things got out of hand. The enraged crowd set fire to the police station, and 22 policemen were burnt alive.

The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place on 13 April 1919, when acting Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer ordered troops of the British Indian Army to fire their rifles into a crowd of unarmed Indian civilians in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, Punjab, killing at least 379 people.
