Solution

The given fractions are 34, 58, 1112 and 1724.
L.C.M. of 4, 8, 12 and 24 = (2 ⨯ 2 ⨯ 2 ⨯ 3) = 24

So, we convert each of the fractions whose denominator is not equal to 24 into an equivalent fraction with denominator 24.
Thus, we have;
34 = 3×64×6 = 1824; 58 = 5×38×3 = 1524; 1112 = 11×212×2 = 2224
Clearly, 2224 >1824 >1724 >1524

∴ 1112 >34 >1724 >58

Hence, the given fractions can be arranged in the descending order as follows:
1112, 34, 1724, 58
