Arrange the following in increasing density
Air, exhaust from chimneys, honey, water , chalk cotton and iron.
Density is defined as the mass per unit volume.
Air has a density of 1.225kgm3
Exhaust from chimneys is a mixture of gases and other heavier particles , hence chimney exhaust has higher density than air.
Cotton is a solid fibres which has lot of air trapped inside it and its volume is larger than that of water and has lower density than that of water.
Honey is a viscous and dense liquid having higher density than that of water.
Chalk is a solid that is denser than honey but less denser than iron.
Hence from the given materials iron is the densest.
Hence the increasing order of density is -
Air < Exhaust from chimney < cotton < water < honey < chalk < iron
