Question

Arrange the following in the increasing order of their boiling point:

C2H5OH, (CH3)2NH, C2H5NH2

Open in App
Solution

Boiling point depends upon Hbonding present in compound. Boiling point will be higher if extent of Hbonding is more in the compound.
(CH3)2NH has only one Hatom C2H5NH2 has two Hatom then C2H5NH2 has more extensive Hbonding than (CH3)2NH.
Therefore the boiling point of C2H5NH2 is more than (CH3)2NH.
O is more electromagnet iv than N. Thus, C2H5On has more stronger nbond than C2H5NH2 and (CH3)2NH
order (CH3)2NH<C2H5NH2<C2H5OH
