Solution

The correct option is A 1
Increasing order of ionization potential of Na,Al,Mg,Si is Na<Al<Mg<Si. All these elements belong to third period. Ionisation enthalpy increases across a period with breaks when an electron of somewhat stable configuration is removed. When an electron is removed from Al, stable valence shell configuration of 3s2 is obtained. When an electron is removed from Mg, stable valence shell configuration of 3s2 is broken. This requires large amount of energy. Hence, the ionisation potential of Mg is higher than the ionisation potential of Al.
