Solution

The steps involved in water treatment process are given below.

Air is blown through a trough of water to increase the concentration of oxygen in the water.

The aerated water flows from the reservoir into the sedimentation tank which allows heavy, solid particles present in water to settle down.

The remaining impurities are removed in the filtration tank. The impurities are trapped between the carbon, gravel and fine sand layers present in the tank.

The water from this tank is moved to the chlorination tank, where chlorine gas is passed through the water to kill the bacteria.

From chlorination tank the treated water is transported to homes.
