The steps involved in water treatment process are given below.
∙ Air is blown through a trough of water to increase the concentration of oxygen in the water.
∙ The aerated water flows from the reservoir into the sedimentation tank which allows heavy, solid particles present in water to settle down.
∙ The remaining impurities are removed in the filtration tank. The impurities are trapped between the carbon, gravel and fine sand layers present in the tank.
∙ The water from this tank is moved to the chlorination tank, where chlorine gas is passed through the water to kill the bacteria.
∙ From chlorination tank the treated water is transported to homes.
