Solution

Tidal Volume

It is the volume of air inspired or expired during normal breathing by person. It is approximately 500 mL in a healthy adult.

Residual volume

The volume of air that remains in the lungs even after the forceful expiration is known as residual volume. It is around 1100 mL to 1200 mL.

Inspiratory Reserve Volume (IRV)

After inspiring the tidal volume, the extra volume of air a person can inspire by forceful inspiration is known as inspiratory reserve volume (IRV). The volume of IRV is around 2500 to 3000 mL.

Expiratory Capacity (EC):

After normal inspiration, the total volume of air that can be expired by a person is known as expiratory capacity (EC). The volume of expiratory capacity is about 1500 to 1600 mL.

Final answer:

TV<RV<EC<IRV
