Solution

The first layer covering of the kidney is called paranephric fat. Moving deeper, we find a fibrous capsule, called the renal fascia also known as Gerota's fascia. If we peel this fascia away we find another layer of fat called perinephric fat. Further down we see another tough fibrous tissue called the renal capsule. This surrounds the kidney and protects it from damage.
