Question

Arrange the molecules according to the decreasing order of their number of atoms.

Open in App
Solution

Water (H2O) is a triatomic molecule containing 2 H and 1 O atom.

Methane (CH4) is a polyatomic molecule containing 4 H and 1 C atom.

Bromine (Br2) is a diatomic molecule containing 2 Br atoms.

Neon (Ne) exists as a single atom. Hence, it is a monoatomic molecule.

Arranging the molecules according to their atomicity:
Methane (molecule with 5 atoms) > Water (molecule with 3 atoms) > Bromine (molecule with 2 atoms) > Neon (molecule with 1 atom).
