Arrange the phases of moon right after new moon (top) till third quarter (bottom).
After the new moon, the moon is in its waxing phase. It is a waxing crescent initially. After it grows till the first quarter or the half-moon, it enters the waxing gibbous phase and grows till the full moon. The moon, then, starts waning, entering the waning gibbous phase, followed by the waning crescent phase, and finally a new moon.
