The processes involved in maufacturing of Portland cement are as follows-
1) Batch preparation: The raw materials like limestone, clay, sand and gypsum are mixed to prepare a batch.
2) Clinkering: The batch is then allowed to heat in a furnace. It leads to the evaporation of water vapours and conversion of the batch into a partial molten state. This molten state combines to form a clinker.
3) Cooling and milling: The clinkers are cooled and ground to a very fine powder. This powder is known as Portland cement.
4) Packaging: It involves the packing of cement in airtight bags.
