Article 368 of Part XX deals with the power of Parliament to amend the Constitution and the procedure thereof. It keeps a check on the arbitrary power of the Parliament of India. Article 368 has been amended by the 24th and 42nd Amendments in 1971 and 1976 respectively.As per the procedure laid out by article 368 for amendment of the Constitution, an amendment can be initiated only by the introduction of a Bill in either House of Parliament and should be passed by both. There is no provision of joint sitting in case of amendments.
