1. Natural methods such as periodic abstinance which is when the couple avoids coitus from day 10 to 17 of the menstrual cycle when ovulation could be expected. [1]
2. Barrier methods such as the use of condoms (male and female), diaphragms, cervical caps, etc which prevent the ovum and sperms from physically meeting. [1]
3. Intra Uterine Devices (IUDs) are devices that are inserted into the uterus. They can be non-medicated such as Lippes loop, copper releasing such as CuT (decrease sperm motility and fertilising capacity of sperms) or hormone releasing (makes the uterus unsuitable for implantation and cervix hostile to sperms).
