As known to us hydrogen has only one electron
So to make an ion it would give electron or take electron
The ion of hydrogen has the valency H+ means it give away 1 electron then what will hapen with no electron. Instead it can take one electron.
The material which can give or take electrons are known as metals but non metals can also give or take electrons so what's the matter
Lithium is a metal whose electronic configuration is 2 and 1 including 3 protons 3 electrons and 3 neutrons. So, if we remove 1 electron from lithium to make it stable. Then ,why would we call it lithium as it has 3 protons 3 electrons and 3 neutrons. But , after removal of 1 electron only 2 electrons are left. So, why would we call it lithium then.
Hydrogen is having one electron. To complete its duplet, it should gain one electron. Then it should become Hydride(H- )ion. But how can it loose one electron to form Hydeogen (H+) ion ? Why does it do so as it is gaining no stability ?
