Question

As per Hindus Mythology, in Mahabharata, the great Warrior BHIMA has capacity to throw Elephants into the space very far away from the surface of Earth. On the surface of Earth, he was able to provide minimum velocity for this purpose, i.e. 11.2 km s-1. (a) What is the name of the velocity provided by BHIMA to throw the elephants? (b) If He had thrown one elephant with the velocity of 20 km s-1, the velocity of the elephant when it had crossed the Gravitational field of Earthwas zero or not?Explain. (c) His one of the enemies also had thrown one horse, did the velocity required for that purpose was less or more than 11.2 kms-1. (d) On Mars, the acceleration of gravity is 1/3 of ‘g’ on Earth and Radius of Mars is 1/3 of Re. What velocity would be required by the BHIMA on Mars to throw one elephant away from its Gravitational field? (e) Calculate the orbital velocity of a satellite, which is revolving around the Earth very close to its surface, using 11.2 km s-1.
