  1. When a bar magnet is brought near a soft iron, soft iron becomes a magnet in the presence of a bar magnet
  2. This phenomenon is known as magnetic induction
  3. So magnetic induction is the phenomenon of acquiring magnetism by a magnetic material in the presence of a permanent magnet
  4. When the north pole of the magnet is brought near the soft iron core, an opposite pole i.e south pole is acquired at that end.

The magnetic poles acquired by the soft iron is the south pole near the end facing north pole of the magnet
