Asim was returning from fishing with his bicycle. At point A, he has two different paths to choose from to reach home, as shown in the figure below.


Asim is at point A and his house is at point B. Which path is longer, and what is the minimum distance between Asim and his house?

The correct option is C A → C → B; 4
From the above figure, we can see that Asim is at A with his bicycle and his house is at point B.

Two possible paths and their distances are,

Path 1 = A → B (Distance = 4 m)

Path 2 = A → C → B (Distance = 5 m + 3 m = 8 m)
Here, if Asim follows Path 1, the total distance covered = 4 m

The total distance he will cover through Path 2 = 8 m

This means that Path 2 is longer, and Path 1 is shorter.

Hence, the required answer is Path 2 (A → C → B), and the minimum distance is 4 m.
