Arthropoda is the largest phylum of kingdom Animalia and they have jointed appendages (Arthro-joint, poda – appendages).
Arthropods are invertebrate animals having an exoskeleton, a segmented body, and paired jointed appendages.
Insects are included in Arthopoda as insects have a chitinous exoskeleton, a three-part body (head, thorax and abdomen), three pairs of jointed legs, compound eyes and one pair of antennae.
