The explanation for the assertion statement-

  1. Mica is a good conductor of heat due to its lattice structure i.e it shows good thermal conductivity.
  2. Hence, used on either side of the heating element.
  3. Hence the statement is true.

The explanation for the reason statement-

  1. In metals, there are free electrons that convey an electric flow. Mica is a non-metal.
  2. Consequently, there are no free electrons in mica to convey an electric flow thereby it does not possess electrical conductivity.
  3. Also, the circuits used in heaters and boilers are critical so to avoid any short circuit insulators like mica are used and their thermal conductivity also helps in increasing the efficiency of the device

Therefore reason statement is also true and explains the assertion statement.
