When the Sun moves away from Tropic of Cancer towards Tropic of Capricorn, the southwest monsoon weakens, and the monsoon disappears from India. Central Asia forms a high-pressure region, and the low-pressure area gets shifted to the northern parts of the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, low-pressure area, cyclonic depression occurs in the Bay of Bengal, which reaches to the coast and rains heavily. In a way, the southwest monsoon returns as the retreating monsoon.
