Solution

The correct option is A Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
A salt bridge is used to prevent the accumulation of charges, at the electrodes.

Salt bridge is an inverted u shaped tube, filled with Agar-Agar gel which is saturated with an electrolyte KCl(or)KNO3, (or)NH4NO3.

The solution of KCl (or) KNO3 (or) NH4NO3 acts as inert electrolyte.

The cations and anions of the electrolyte used should be of the same ionic mobility.

The electrolyte should be inert.

So, they are used in the making of salt bridge.
