Solution

The correct option is C Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.
In the Battle of Chillianwala, Chattar Singh captured the Fort of Attock in the first week of January in 1849. Lord Gough took his army to Dinghi, twelve km from the camp of the Sikh army, and set camp there. An intense battle broke out between the British and the Sikhs on 13 January, 1849. The Sikhs were victorious in the end. Due to Lord Gough’s mismanagement of the battle, Sir Charles Napier replaced General Gough as Chief General.
