∴F=kxo⟹xo=Fk means that the mean position of the oscillation is changed.
When the block is displaced by small unit say x, then it oscillates about O.
Net change in force experienced by the block F′=F−k(x+xo)
⟹F′=−kx
∴ma=−kx⟹a=−kmx which represents SHM
Comparing with a=−w2x we get w2=km
Time period of oscillation T=2πw=2π√mk
Hence the Assertion is correct but the Reason is incorrect.
