Solution

The correct option is D Both Assertion and Reason are incorrect
Let
S=2n+1C0+2n+1C1+...+2n+1Cn ...(1)
Using nCr=nCnr, we can write (1) as
S=2n+1C2n+1+2n+1C2n+...+2n+1Cn+1 (2)
Adding (1) and (2), we get
2S=2n+1C0+...+2n+1C2n+1=22n+1
S=22n=4n
The number of ways of choosing r books out of 2n+1 is 2n+1Cr.
We are given
2n+1C1+2n+1C2+...+2n+1Cn=255
4n1=2554n=256=44n=4.
