After Ranjit Singh won Lahore, many chiefs of different Misls felt jealous of his growing power and conspired against him. They decided to call him at Bhasin and kill him. However, after nearly two months, Jassa Singh Ramgarhia fall ill while Gulab Singh Bhangi succumed to drinking. After these incidents, all the other chiefs withdrew from the battle and Ranjit Singh won without even fighting the battle.
