Feudalism was a social and economic system which favoured kings and feudal lords. The most important asset under this system was land. The king would grant land as payment in exchange for a service. So, the feudal lords offered the kings military protection and economic help, and acquired large amounts of land. The feudal lords would then distribute this land among tenants or farmers to work on. The workers were bound to the land without having any rights over it.
