Solution

The correct option is C Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect

Enantiomersare chiral molecules that are mirror images of one another. Furthermore, the molecules are non-superimposable on one another. This means that the molecules cannot be placed on top of one another and give the same molecule.

Assertion - Addition of Br2 to4-methyl cis-2-pentene gives a pair of enantiomers (True).

Reason - Due to asymmetrical substitution at C=C double bond, the enantiomers are produced in unequal amount (False) because enantiomeric cyclic bromonium ion gives a racemic mixture of dibromide. So unequal amount is not possible.

Hence, assertion is correct but reason is incorrect.
