The correct option is B Statement I is True and Statement 2 is True but not a correct explanation of Statement 1.
The Alpha particles have a big mass and charge of +2. This means they cause lot of ionisation in short distance. Each time it rips an electron it loses its energy and slows down a bit. An αparticle might make 100000 ionisation before losing its energy at a very short distance. This is why cloud trails are short and fat and vice-versa and applies for electron or (βparticles) and it is pretty obvious that the statement-2 is true but is not the correct reason for statement-1.
