Let the atmospheric pressure be Po
Pressure at point A PA=Po+ρgh
OR P=Po+ρgh ρgh=PPo

Pressure at B PB=Po+ρg(2h)=Po+2P2Po=2PPo

Hence the pressure doesnot increase linearly with depth.
Thus the assertion as well as the reason statements are incorrect.
