Carbohydrates are hydrocarbons which are polyhydroxy aldehydes and ketones having C: H: O ratio as 1:2:1, as in glucose which has molecular formula C $_{6}$ H $_{12}$ O $_{6}$ . All carbohydrates, however, do not show this ratio, for example, rhamnose is a crystalline sugar, C $_{6}$ H $_{12}$ O $_{5}$ . It is an important component of the polysaccharides of plant cell walls. When this sugar reacts with water one oxygen is replaced by the hydrogen atom and thus becomes deoxy sugar. Thus, the correct answer is option B.
