The correct option is B Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion.
Silica (silicon dioxide) has a three-dimensional network structure. In silica, silicon is sp3 -hybridized and is thus linked to four oxygen atoms and each oxygen atom is linked to two silicon atoms forming a three-dimensional giant molecule as shown in figure.
But CO2 has linear structure due to sp hybridization and exists as gas at room temperature.
