Solution

The correct option is A

If both Assertion & Reason are True & the Reason is a correct explanation of the Assertion

Explanation for Assertion :

  1. X-rays are electromagnetic waves with a wavelength less than about 10-9m.
  2. Cathode rays are comprise of beam of electrons.
  3. α-rays are made up of helium nucleus (i.e.,24He2+), hence are made up of positively charged particles.
  4. β-rays are made up of energetic electrons, hence comprise of negatively charged particles.

Explanation for Reason :

  1. An accelerated charge is the source of electromagnetic waves (EMWs).
  2. When the charge is in a circular motion, the direction of its velocity continuously changes and thus it is in accelerated motion and produces EMWs.
  3. A charge falling or decelerated charge in an electric field is accelerated by the electric force and thus produces EMWs.

Here, both Assertion & Reason are True & the Reason is a correct explanation of the Assertion

Hence option A is correct.
