Diabetes insipidus is a disorder in which there is less secretion of ADH due to which there is less water reabsorption in kidneys. The water balance in body is disturbed and hence patient feels thirsty because there is water loss. Also, the patient shows excessive urination because kidneys are not able to reabsorb water. Hence, assertion is correct.
Anti diuretic hormone (ADH) or Vasopressin is secreted from the posterior part of pituitary gland. This hormone increases reabsorption of water in kidneys and this results in decreased rate of urine production. Hence, reason is also correct but it is not correct explanation for assertion.
