Solution

The correct option is B Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion
Diabetes insipidus occurs due to hyposecretion of ADH (Antidiuretic hormone), also known as vasopressin. This hormone stimulates water reabsorption from kidneys and leads to decreased rate of urine production.. When ADH levels are low, water is not reabsorbed and hence, there is excessive urination and too much thirst to compensate the water loss in body. Hence, assertion is correct.
Antidiuretic hormone is secreted from posterior lobe of pituitary gland. Hence, reason is also correct but it is not correct explanation for assertion.
So, the correct answer is 'Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion'.
