Solution

The correct option is A Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
a3+b3+c33abc=(a+b+c)(a2+b2+c2abbcca) ... (i)

If (a+b+c)=0 then a3+b3+c33abc=0

a3+b3+c3=3abc

Thus, the reason is correct.
Assertion

cosα+cos(α+2π3)+cos(α+4π3)

=cosα+cos⎢ ⎢(α+2π3+α+4π3)2⎥ ⎥cos⎢ ⎢(α+2π3α4π3)2⎥ ⎥

=cosα+2cos(α+π)cos(π3) ..... [Using cosa+cosb formula]

=cosα2cosα12

=cosαcosα=0

Using the reason, we get

cos3α+cos3(α+2π3)+cos3(α+4π3)=3cosαcos(α+2π3)cos(α+4π3)

Hence, both reason and assertion are correct and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.
