Solution

The correct option is C Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect
DNA fingerprinting was developed by Alec Jeffrey in 1986. This technique reveals polymorphism in DNA. The DNA fingerprint will be the same for all the cells of an individual. The genome of every human cell contains scattered, short highly repeated segments of DNA sequences. These are called minisatellites or the variable number of tandem repeats (VNTR). DNA fingerprints are used in archaeology, paleontology, and various medical diagnostics including genetic disorders. The technique is extensively used for the diagnosis of many inherited diseases like huntington's, alzheimer's etc. in prenatal and newborn babies but not helpful in the treatment of these inherited disorders.
So, the correct answer is option C.
