at anode: 4OH2H2O+O2+4e

at cathode: 4H++4e2H2

at anode 2 faraday of charge is producing 11.2 L (0.5 mole) of oxygen gas and 22.4 L (1 mole) of hydrogen gas

total gas produced = 33.6 L

So, reason is incorrect.
