The testicles are the male gonads that produce sperm and testosterone. Each testis is present inside the pouch called scrotum. Testicles lead down to the scrotum in the womb under the influence of testosterone. It is linked to the abdomen by a spermatic cord and cremaster muscle. Adjacent to seminiferous tubules in the testicle, interstitial cells or leydig cells are present. These cells secrete androgens mainly testosterone under the influence of luteinizing hormone (LH).
