These changes in the electrical potential over the heart can be recorded by fixing leads on two arms, the left leg and the chest, and connecting them to an apparatus called electrocardiograph. The record is called electrocardiogram (ECG). An electrocardiogram is the recording of the various events of the cardiac cycle.
