The correct option is B Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion
Using Gauss' law, the electric field inside the sphere is:
E=k(Qr3/R3)r2=kQr/R3, where k=1/4πϵo.
Thus, inside sphere, electric field varies linearly with r.
Now if potential at the surface is V then electric field is Vr/R2. So It should be V/2R if distance from the center is R/2.
Thus, both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.
