KMnO4: In acidic medium, n factor of KMnO4 is 5 as
KMnO4acidic medium−−−−−−−−Mn2+
(violet) (colorless)
Since, the oxidation number changes by +5,
so, n-factor is 5
Equivalent weight =Molar massnfactor=M5
In acidic medium, following reaction takes place.
MnO4+8H++5eMn2++4H2O
Oxidation number of Mn in KMnO4=1+x+(4×2)
=1+x+(8)
x=7
