1. Second ionisation enthalphy is the energy required to removed second electron from 1 mole of gaseous 1+ ions to give gaseous 2+ gives.
2.Second ionisation energy is greater than first ionisation energy because after removal of first electrons, the nuclear charge increases and electrons are held more tightly by the nucleus. This is makes the removal of second electrons difficult and hence requires more energy.
