Solution

The correct option is A Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
When hot water is poured in a thick glass, inner layer of glass gets heat from hot water and expands whereas outer layer gets heat after a time as glass is a bad thermal conductor. Due to this, a tension is generated between two layers and glass breaks.
To avoid this, glasses are made thinner so that time of reaching of heat to outer layer becomes negligible and both layers expand together.
Both assertion and reason are correct.
