Water molecule contains 2 hydrogen atom and one oxygen atom. And structure of H2O molecule is bend instead of linear. Due to this reason water is polar molecule.

The polarity of H2O molecule arises due to difference in electronegativity of hydrogen and oxygen atom. As oxygen is more electronegetive than hydrogen, oxygen tends to pull the electrons towards itself.
