Glottis is an organ of speech, located in the larynx consisting of the vocal cords and the opening between them while epiglottis is a cartilaginous organ in the throat of terrestrial vertebrates covering the glottis when swallowing food to prevent food and liquid from entering the trachea. In humans, it also serves as a speech organ. The alveoli have a very large surface area. This large surface area is the result of all the alveoli being small spheres and this enormously increases the area for exchange of gases. So, both assertion and reason are true but the reason is not the correct explanation. Thus, option B is correct.
