If a2+b2+c2<0, then all a,b,c are not real or at least one of a,b,c is imaginary number.
Hence roots of equation ax2+bx+ c=0 has no complex conjugate roots, even though the roots are complex.

Hence statement 1 is true. Statement 2 is obviously true (see the theory).
Also, statement 2 is correct explanation of statement 1.
