If the objective and eye-lens of a compound microscope are interchanged, we'll see a diminished image of the object.

Focal length of both the lenses are very small in a compound microscope and their difference (f0fe) is also very small. Whereas, in telescope the objective has a very large focal length compared to the eye-lens.
