The equation of state for an adiabatic process is given by:
TVγ1=constant
i.e. T2T1=(V1V2)γ1
If it is expansion,
V2>V1 and 0<(γ1)<1
Hence, T2T1<1
Hence temperature is decreasing.

And an adiabatic process is defined by the fact that heat supplied is zero.

Hence, both statements are true but reason is not the correct explanation for the assertion.
