The energy gap b/w the different energy levels of the atom(orbits) is fixed.
Bohr's Quantisation theorem states that electrons can only take certain energy levels.
Hence the emission characteristics of the atom do not change with the incident energy.
Further, wavelengths of X-rays depends on the path that the electron takes to reach the final level from initial level. It can go via multiple stops at intermediate energy levels(orbits) as well as directly jump to the final state.
